Clinical Signs: The mare was referred to an equine hospital for evaluation and treatment of fever, diarrhea, and systemic inflammatory response syndrome. She was admitted under isolation protocol, and has improved with treatment. Fecal samples collected at hospital admission were positive on PCR and culture for Salmonella. Several other horses on the farm have been treated for fever, diarrhea, and/or colic in the last week.
